Totalgaz in dialogue with its stakeholders!

Since 2009, Totalgaz has been adamant to get closer to its stakeholders by implementing and improving a program called SRM+ (Stakeholders Relationship Management).

This program enables depots to open the communication channel with its neighbours, contractors, clients and local communities to discuss topics such as safety, crisis management, social responsibility and exchange of expertise.

Thanks to this program the local management has been able to review its local community's priorities and set direction for improvement and better integration of the sites within their environments.

During the first half of the year, stakeholders were invited to attend the SRM+ surveys at five of our Totalgaz depots situated in Chamdor, Paarden Eiland, Mossel Bay, Polokwane and Makhado.

During the organized open days, fire drills with the assistance of the local fire department were conducted and depot inductions were also performed to familiarize stakeholders with the safety aspects as well as the operations of a LPG depot.

Our stakeholders were eager to share information and discuss many issues relating to the possible involvement of Totalgaz within their surrounding communities.  The partnership of Totalgaz in the renovation of Somerset Hospital's trauma unit within the Western Cape as well as the Leratong Hospital in Gauteng are both born out of consultation with the stakeholders of the Paarden Eiland and Chamdor depots respectively.

The ongoing process continues and the implementation of SRM+ within the whole network of Totalgaz depots is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011.
